Built on real experiences and critical research, the project reflects on how online spaces create cycles of comparison, performance, and longing for acceptance.

It questions the common saying ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ inviting viewers to rethink their own beauty, authenticity, and identity in a digital world.

The Beholder

 

The Beholder is a digital exploration on how social media and makeup reshapes our sense of identity. Growing up online, I saw how beauty trends could inspire creativity but also fuel insecurity.

Through photography, video and interviews presented as an online magazine The Beholder examines makeup as both a mirror and a mask for self-expression, but also a response to external pressures like beauty standards.
