Aquatic Ambience

My project’s objectives are to create an audio-only VR experience that captures the sensory deprivation tank’s psychological benefits of stress reduction and relaxation. My project will be able to include the techniques of 3D audio rendering and binaural recording by using normal MP3 files. The platform that I am using and learned how to navigate in Year 2 Aframe, has the ability to support these techniques. In responses to what floaters have heard in sensory deprivation tanks, they have reported sounds of hums, whispers, water flowing and music like tones. I will recreate this tank in a virtual method by editing MP3 files and then putting them in a 3D space in where they will come from different directions. Spatial sound being the key to my project will make the user feel like they are in a tank by having a pitch black VR headset on with headphones playing different sounds in different directions to mimic the tanks.
